PIC MRF24J40MA transceiver module

I am curious if anyone has used this 2.4 GHz transceiver module. The chip appears to support data encryption and spectrum spread. Given that it is costs aproximately 10 euros, it appears to be a serious competitor with ZigBee.

Does anybody used this transceiver before ? If so, do you have any relevant comments ?
