hi guys, just a quick question.
I am working on a project to read the nmea string from a GPS via usart, and then display the distance convered and current speed, in C.
For the speed i have to extract the $VTG string, and process it, do you have any suggestions on the most efficient way to do this?

i have the LCD working now, but i seem to have run out of memory on the 16F690, in porting my code over to the 18F, i get a type mismatch error, and a string does not print correctly to the LCD, and the usart is not working correctly also.

Is it possible to fit a my program onto the16F690? because everything as working correctly there, and what might the problem on the 18F be?

many thanks

Which compiler are you using?

If you want to stay with a 16 series chip then a 16F886 has twice the memory of a 690.
