gramo, if you take eight samples and just shift left three times
is faster than dividing by a decimal number

or take four samples and shift left two times

you get the idea.
 
I think 20 readings and outputs/sec would be fast enough, and I think with a 4M clock and prescaler set to 256 it should be plenty fast enough. (I've guesstimated, I'm still not to deep into the math of pics.)

Speed is rarely a problem, PIC's really run extremely quickly, and your project is only a very low speed one.
