Hi, i am new here and have a big problem i think.

i have a pic programmer, the pickit2, but now after i have don't use a long time,
the programmer don't recognizes the pic-chip 16F877A.
i have tried out 10 pieces, but none of them seems to work anymore.
When i put a 16F628A on that place, there is no any problem.

Does anyone can tell me what the problem can be??

PIC16F877A has VDD on pins 11 & 32, VSS on 12 & 31.....are you using both sets of pins?

Are the 16F877A's new or previously used?
Are you using MPLABIDE or the standalone PICkit2 application and which version?
Are you getting a specific error message, or a "No device detected" type of message?
Have you tried the PICkit2 troubleshooting wizard in the standalone app?

EDIT: There was a post on the Microchip Forum some time ago, which mentioned dropping the voltage down from 5V.
Just had a look, but I can't seem to find it.

the pics 877a are both new and used
most of the time i get the error "No device detected"
sometimes the error that the vdd is to low
stand alone, version 2.61

Have you tried the troubleshooting step?
Additionally, has any change to your programming setup taken place 4 days ago, i.e. PC system restore, update to standalone version, etc.
Are you able to use someone else's PICkit2 to compare against your own?
How long are your programming cables?

cables are just 10 cm
tried the troubleshooting, seems ok
not be able to compair with someone else
and no changes in the programming setup

Again.. I mentioned this in another thread... Just check the programming voltage on the interface.. I always set it to 5v but for some reason it was showing 4v.

in my case, and in the troubleshoot, it was 4.9 volt

EDIT, i have just ordered a new pickit2

its okay now

The old one is okay, or is it only working because you got a new one?
My guess would be that the connectors were just dirty. Either that or something was connected incorrectly (or not connected at all).
Glad it's working, anyway.
