Problem with 40 A legrand MCB

hello..
this evening there was a power surge and the breaker tripped. up on further investigation ifound that the test button on the mcb was down, tried to loosen it but now the MCB keeps tripping when connected to load. .can anyone help with internal diagram or something. it costs a lot, if it can be repaired then why the head ache?

I suspect that broken MCBs are a bit like dead parrots...

... not repairable.

Just had a quick look at the RS Components website, a similar MCB (actually it was called and RCBO, combined circuit breaker and earth leakage trip) was priced at about £100, as you say, not cheap.


but now the MCB keeps tripping when connected to load
Does that mean that you can close the MCB and it will stay closed, but trips when the load is connected?
If so, that maybe infers a problem with the load.

i fixed the thing.. it just slipped out of place, there is a small catch mechanism in the mcb (dark cream color) now its okay.. thanks pcbits and JimB for your replies
