you need to submit more information about the project. still you can use two PCs in wireless network, one at remote and other with the notice board. which kind of operation you need to complete using the particular wireless modules? check with.

Linx has wireless modules (approx 1000 ft) or for longer range you could try zigbee (see Digikey.com for both). I've used both.

Linx modules are limited to 10K baud, I used the 418MHz modules. zigbee transcieves @2.4GHz, so their bandwidth is much greater.
