Pulse Switch

Ok, I have a switch that opens and closes a circuit.

I want to make it so that, with the push of a button, the circuit is opened for about 4 seconds, then is closed and then opened for another for seconds..continuing in this matter until I hit the button again and the circuit is permanently closed.

You don't say how long the switch should be closed. Momentary? 4 seconds?

Yes, momentary.

Call it a millisecond at least.

This circuit may be what you want. The on and off times are equal
