What does the multiplication sign mean exactly? And how does it affect the RAM's memory organization and usage? The numbers in the thread title are arbitrary for my case, just examples so I can demonstrate.

Thanks.

16Kx8 has an 8bit data buss.
8Kx16 has a 16bit data buss.
They both have the same number of data bits. 16384 x 8 = 131072 bits of data. (16384 ~= 16K)

Ah, yeah. It became obvious fairly quickly mucking around the data sheets. THanks.
