hi im new here ,,great forum by the way very informative.
anyway i want to do a some scale lighting progect for my raptor 30
i.m looking to do 3 strobes all red and 3 solid ones (no blinking)
i have to admit i havent done any electronics like this since high school
so having said that i have no idea where to start.
ideas and even a drawing would be much appreciated.

How much extra weight can your heli lift? Is it battery powered?

The video you posted dosn't show the circuit used to do the flashing, but it looks awful small, so I would guess a micro-controller is being used to make the strobes. You can make a strobe like that with a 555 timer and a 4017 counter, but it will take more parts then a micro-controller soulution would. There are alot of 555/4017 led strobe circuits here and on the rest of the net. That whould give you a good start on how you could do it.
 
Here is a good link for you to take a look at.



The 4017 is used to sequence LEDs alot, but you can also make double flash patterns with it once you understand how it works.
