Remote control Power Wheel

I was looking for more help on making my kids powerwheel (barbie jeep) remote control so I can drive and she just goes for the ride because when I let her drive she crashes. I did a google search found one thread but not much details any help would be great.

I've been watching it lately, because our Computer Science Robotics Lab Professor wants to turn one into a independently controlled "rover".

My first project is steering.
