I use “Glossy Photo Paper” (yes, the paper you use to print photos on). Print on the glossy side.
I use an Iron at FULL heat. Make sure heat is distributed evenly across the PCB for 5 minutes.
Once finished with the Iron, I then put the (now very hot) PCB on a flat steel surface table and press down with a piece of wood in order to dissipate the heat into the steel surface. Move the PCB around the table every 10 seconds and repeat the pressing down. I do this for about a minute until the PCB is down to room temperature (+-)
Doing it this way, the photo paper can simply be peeled off. Most of the times I don’t even need to soak in water. Comes off in one gentle even pull, without any breaks or tears or toner loss.
