RTS,CTS or DTR, DSR which are used more?

With a MAX232 you've got 1 spare in and 1 spare out. What would you tie them to on a DE9 DCE?

RTS and CTS are the common ones, although I can't remember the last time I ever used any handshaking?.

True, I'll use the two I/O pins for something else
LED & switch are popular.

RTS and CTS. RTS is good for controller the MCLR line.

True when used with an ICD2 or JDM programmer. The project I'm working on now is an home-automation type controller.
