does anyone know how to spread a fm signal using gold code or any other codes?

This app note gives a little background on gold code generators (it's mostly about implementing a generator). Where to find the app note is the extent of my knowledge on the topic .

what i am trying to ask is how to generate gold code, and how it can be connected into a fm modulator, so that i can generate a direct sequence spread spectrum.
