I have a Saitek X52 Pro PC joystick that I no longer use.

I want to start a little project where I make it compatible with an xbox 360. I was wondering if there was any software that reads the bits it send out through the USB with no hardware.

Is there such a thing?

The only USB port monitor software I am aware of is this software. It does offer a free trial but actually cost. I don't know of anything out there free.

Update to all:
It's all fine except it's far too hard to use. I'm trying to filter out a certain type of input (Moving the joystick) because obviously that just floods it and I only want to see what the buttons are doing. But the filter menu is really hard to understand.

It has an option that says "Don't process data packets if they contain:" then it says to enter "A hexadecimal value you should type as #00".

But where is this value here?
