Having a weird problem with programming a 12F1840 this morning, anybody else come across anything similar.

If I have EEprom programming enabled, I am getting a 'Programming failed at EE Data address 0x0009' message.

Turning off EEprom programming and it programs fine (but the program is useless without the EEprom data).

I have tried another known working program for the 12F1840 that programmed fine previously and that also reports the same error (same error address).

Programs a 12F629 fine with the '629 version of the same file and EEprom Programming enabled.

Nothing changed hardware wise in my programming setup - Pickit 3 and standalone programming adapter with ZIF socket.

Problem solved (I think).

Somewhere along the line, 'Use VPP First Program Entry' had become unticked - ticked it and no error, not sure why the '629 programmed OK in that configuration though.

If you use Vpp first mode then Vdd MUST be supplied by the PK3 otherwise it can't be supplied second. Is it set for the PK3 to supply Vdd?

Mike.

Yes PK3 supplies VDD - I hardly ever use ICSP, normally use an adapter for off board programming.

Think I worked out why VPP first got unticked - if you start up the PK3 software without a chip in the adapter board, it seems to untick VPP first.
