hey.

Speakers and amplifiers are rated in Watts, which is VA. Is the voltage constant and the current varying, or is the current constant and voltage changing, or are they both go up - with an increase of volume or something.

As the volume is increased the output voltage increases, as the speaker is a 'constant' impedance the current will increase correspondingly.

The two formulas concerned are:

W=VxI

and

V=IxR
 
Well, we know that the impedance is not REALLY 'constant', but we'll just assume it doesn't change much.... :wink: at least for the purposes of this question
