I have some audio/data signals coming into my PC on my soundcard's line-in port. For troubleshooting reasons, I sometimes have to record these sounds so I can open them as a wav or mp3 in an audio program like Goldwave.

What I really need is a program that can do a Fourier analysis of the sound in real-time and display the spectrum as it's all happening. I've googled here and there, but the only ones I found that come close to this are either expensive software suites for corporate clients, or require huge/outdated libraries.

In general, can anyone (particularly any DX'ers out there) recommend any program that will display the spectrum of a signal from a soundcard's line-in or mic-in ports?

Try this,
Spectrogram
I have used it a couple of times and it seems OK.

Yep. That's the one. Exactly the type I've been looking for. Thanks.
