Speech Recognition using MATLAB

Hey friends

I am trying to make a speech recognition system using MATLAB.
I want to drive a motor through speech.
Pls help..........
 
they already have chips where you can store voice and use a microcontroller to drive stuff. Google speech+chip.

give me some properties of signal wherein i can distinguish between the different of signals.Like how can i use energy,power,or anything like that????
