Starting of SCR controlled 50KW Inverter (1KHz Frequency)

Dear All,
We have 50KW SCR controlled Inverter 1KHz Frequency. Basically it is current source inverter with large D.C. chock (inductive coil) in D.C. side.
My question is how to start this inverter I mean, Is it require to do priming? Is it require other SCR (starting SCR) which do start current to flow?

Depends.
is the drive going to always deliver a constant current, if so a "primer" might be an idea to ensure start-up time.

IF it is for an application where the output current varies and also goes down to low-amps then there really isnt any point
 
most inverters of this type are full of electrolytic caps ...so that means their should be a way to precharge them... most of the time it is a resistor limiting the current to charge the caps until a voltage level is reached before the electronic drive that controls the scr's starts. This maybe a precharge switch.. or part of a automatic start which needs only the closure of a large switch or breaker... if the precharge is seperate then another switch or breaker would need to be closed after which a short delay it will start the inverter.

No, he is talking abt a current-source inverter, there are no DC-link capacitors in the link, that would make it a voltage-source inverter.

Current-source inverers have alot of advanteges over teh voltage-source cousins
