Hi,

A friend of mine needs a pause button fitting externally to a cd player to use on stage as a performer. This could work by either a key-fob, foot pedal or remote switch. Wireless or wired is possible as either will be fine on stage.

Any ideas on how to hijack the signal or parallel with the existing button?

I have no experience of audio equipment though I am happy to take things apart and wire with solder and/or connectors as required.

Has anybody got experience of a similar project?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

You may be able to get to the switch, but without a model number its had to say. Andy

I've used a FET optocoupler to go across the switch. My interface when done accepted something like a 5 to 32 volt signal and was reverse polarity protected. It needed about 20 mA. I also needed to pulse the button, so I did that with a timer.

Do a search I found this: **broken link removed**

If the cd player has an infared remote, you could simulate the ir signal. A dangerous prototypes IR toy could be reprogrammed to do it.
