Hello!

I have a problem with a question that requires thevenins theorum to solve
I was wondering if any of you buys could help explain it to me? or point me in the right direction, do you have any useful links for me to look at?

The circuit I am traying to solve has 2 power supplies

V1 - 8V
V2 - 12V
There are 3 resistors, the middle resistor (R3 is 6Ω)
R1 is 20Ω and is siutated between V1 + R3
R2 is 6Ω and is siuated between R3 + V2

I hope this makes sense
Thanks a lot guys!

Yes, I have read that although still find it confusing

I need to know how to begin, and I think i may be able to take it from there

I'm ok with nortons and supersiton (i think)
Just got to get my hea around this bad boy

You can either solve the two loop equations with two unknowns (I1 and I2) or you can remove R3 and figure voltage at the top of where it was
and then short R3 and figure current through the short.
This gives you the Thev. V and I and so you can figure the thev. R.

Now you just have R3 in series with the thev. R in series with the thev. V and you can solve it almost by inspection.

This comes up all the time on this forum.

If you go the equation route, put it into a spreadsheet to confirm your values. Only one mistake in the equations throws off the whole shebang.
