why does the thunder drop down to earth, but doesnt go up to the sky?
Is it due to Gravity?

Thunder is sound waves. It goes out and about.

We used to say that the test for entry into the service was that if you could see thunder and hear lightning you were in!

What do you mean "use to say". It's still part of the ASVAB testing.
