Toroid International Datasheet

Hi,
I'm trying to identify a Toroid International transformer. P/N TI-63936 Iss P0. Wondering if anyone has come across it. The company seems to have been taken over and there is no relevant info. on the new company site.

The way to check it is this:

Get two identical 30VA transformers and connect the secondaries together.
You now have a 30VA AC power supply just like the mains, only it is limited to 30VA and you cannot do any damage. Now measure the resistance between the brown and blue and the other wires coming out of the black sleeve. Connect the highest resistance to the primary of the second transformer.
If either of the 30VA transformers get hot, remove the toroid. If not, measure the voltage on the output wires.
This is how to get the output voltages of the toroid.

Black/White and Brown/Blue are usually used for mains windings, so you can begin with those assumptions. Since you have both pairs of colors, you probably have a pair of primaries that are intended to be wired optionally in parallel or series for 120 or 240V operation.

It's not necessary to begin your testing with mains voltages. If you guess wrong on the primary you could have some pretty scary voltages on your "secondary" windings. I would find a source of about 12-24VAC and apply it to the 'primaries', and work out the turns ratios. When you're comfortable with the result, then you can experiment with the full mains voltage. For the initial mains test, you can use an incandescent lamp in series to limit the current. (Choose a lamp that's similar in rating to your best guess of the transformer.) Remember that all experiments with mains voltages are potentially lethal.

I should add that the transformer is from a Quad 99 stereo power amp so voltages from the secondary should not be too high.
