Trace width

In my PCB layout design, I'm using a 40 mil width trace (shown in green in the image below) to carry 5V from a USB connector to the rest of the circuit. There is a test point for this net (marked with a blue arrow), and my question is: Should I reduce the trace width at the test point branch?

There's no reason to if it's just for checking voltage. On the other hand, there's no reason not to if you need more room for other stuff.

Keep the test point branch at the same width (40 mil). If space is a concern, keep the narrowed segment as short as possible.

There should be a 0V test point nearby for use with probe tip + spring ring tip
