I am not into electronics but I'd like to try to make radio telemetry tracking collars for hunting dogs. I don't even know if it is possible or cost effective. I am mechically inclined but have no idea where to start. Can SOMEONE please help me? Thank you

Please don't get offended or dishartened but this is my view of Radio Circuits.
1) They are always costlier to build than one readily available in the market.
2) You have to bang yor head against wall to make them work satisfactorily :x:
Electronics is interesting and easy to learn but radio is definitely not the subject to start with.
