Trans conductance opamps. OTA

Just curious;

I know that they are still being sold by several electronics distributors.

But......Are the OTA or Norton devices still a viable analog function?

As I said, it is only curiosity.

One design I built from plans was an old school audio timer (555) that used the LM3900. It could accept both speaker inputs to pre-amp inputs (big feat) and it also included some active filters.
