transmit a character by serial port using pic16f877-04

i am a newbie on assambly language. i have a school project that require me to transmit a word or character "hello" using a serial port tx and rx from pic16f877-04 to a lcd displace. i was wondering what i could do to start? can anyone help me out. is there any code that i can start with?
