I'm working on a project (a RC Car), where some of the components are crimped together. Is there anyway I can uncrimp them, or do I need to just cut the wire (and then solder)?
It is usually possible, with a small screwdriver, to pry the crimp open, but much easier to cut the wire. If you will have enough wire after cutting, I say cut it.
The trick is to solder them after levering them open, rather than trying to crimp them again. However, having used small screwdrivers on them over the years - I've got lots of little holes and tears in my hands 8)
