understanding transistors completely.........

hello friends let us have a discussion on transistors,its types, various applications, its basic operation and other such things related to it.You might think its silly but transistors is one of the most fundamental device in electronics and u must have complete understanding to use it in your design.My major doubt about transistor is that how it amplifies signal.
