MikeMl Well-Known Member Most Helpful Member Mar 25, 2010 #2 To get 1V 4A starting with a 17V supply, a linear regulator will dissipate P = IE= (17-1)*4 = 64W, which will need a huge heatsink, or a smaller heatsink and a FAN. Are you prepared to deal with the heat?
