I'm intrigued- in summary, what is going on at AAC for so many people to be so cheesed?
Some people occasionally ask about certain policies of the site (there are many compared to here). The straw that broke the camel's back was this thread (at least for me).
https://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/threads/what-is-the-point-of-the-warning-if-this-happens.120023/
A policy has existed for some time that old threads are not locked but, if a new member posts to the thread, the thread is instantly locked and the new member is chastised for posting to an old thread. Then his question/comment is rolled into a new thread (whether or not appropriate context is in his question/comment).
The question was asked, what type of comment/question not result in a locked thread. Instead of an answer, there was plenty of chest poundign and insulting people as "just members" rather than "moderators" and chastize those discussing the situation for trying to rock the boat. Various theories were proposed as to why the bazar policy of the site and, yet again, more chest pounding. So, rather than support AAC as "just members", I left (and so did some others). Some are likely hovering between the two sites but, I think there will be some more traffic around here for a while.
I was pleasantly surprised how many people from AAC were already here. I would list them but I would be afraid to leave someone off.
Other's are welcome to tell their own stories.
Just noticed the sex of the moderator in question- that explains all
He/She is why I left...You only know the half of it

Finally, while I have no problem with an individuals sexuality when a thread was started so a moderator could come out of some closet that for me helped push me out. Look at me I feel the entire world should know I am a transsexual. Like I need to know that in an electronics enthusiast forum? It wasn't just the thread it was the comments. Those who embellished the change it seemed were praised but those who felt differently were not quite as well liked by staff. Again, it's their forum to run as they please. Best of luck with the place.
Hey, I know that avatar. How are you doing? Well I hope. I liked the other site but unfortunately did not see eye to eye with some of the thinking of the site owners and staff. Then too, it is their site to manage and run as they please. When I took the hit for going off on some kid with a mouth much larger than brain I figured it was time for me to depart. I have looked in a few times but really have no desire to hang out there. I was originally here, long before there and have always found this place to be, simply put, more comfortable. All forums need some moderation but when moderation gets carried away and a little heavy handed it is time for me to leave before I do something I'll regret and get tossed out.

Anyway, I believe at one point you mentioned meeting in Youngstown with another member from here, shortbus that would be you. Should you guys ever put that together please let me know.

I have no problem with Bill/Wendy writing the post and coming out. Sometimes people like that need reassurance from others that they are still cared for, especially if they had severe depression. Encouragement from others at times like that could save a life, you never know. I think she (now Wendy) had every right to describe the problems she was facing, and why she was acting differently (and changed the username).
However, what bothers me is that she was one of the most power-hungry mods. I don't know if it was her medications and/or supplements, or what happened but she changed from someone I highly respected to a moderator drunk with power. The other moderators didn't even have that as an excuse.
It doesn't seem like many people use them here. All the posts Audioguru has and only a handful of "Likes". One of the things that the AAC crowd might bring to the table. I really like the selection of clickies here!I'm still learning the feedback buttons. Enjoy the trophies I'm handing out, or whatever they are.
Well, AG is kinda an @-hole.It doesn't seem like many people use them here. All the posts Audioguru has and only a handful of "Likes". One of the things that the AAC crowd might bring to the table. I really like the selection of clickies here!
I am and always have been a big fan. A straight-talking audio genius.Well, AG is kinda an @-hole.
(One that I happen to be a fan of)
Don't worry, he still has a downer on 741sI can't wait to hear him say "a lousy 741".
I like audioguru, but, the reason he dislikes the ancient lousy 741 is the reason they still use it in the school systems. When you talk about slew rate, the beginner can see it clearly on the 741 vice giving them one where they would have a difficult time operating the oscilloscope (if they don't have the one button do all feature) to discern the slew rate slope on a newer opamp.
As far as the incidents at AAC. stuff like that happens. It wasn't that long ago that there was a minor uprising here at ETO.
We all just enjoy when he does call it lousy and unloads a can of whoop-ass on the Op for using it.
