First, I would like to say I am new to electronics. But since I am stuck in the house, I thought I would give an idea I have for years a try.
I would like to build a lamp tower for my workshop and home. The way it would work, when I enter it will automatically turn off and when I leave, after a short delay it will turn on.
My suggestion would be to use a standard 120V PIR automatic lighting switch, and wire it up to a 120 V relay. Use the NC contacts of the relay, and it should do what you want.
You will probably want to make sure that the light from the fluorescent lights can't get to the PIR switch, or that the minimum lighting level of the PIR is turned right up. Otherwise the PIR will see the lighting levels, and never turn on, so the lights will never turn off.
I would like to know why you would want a PIR controlled light that does exactly the opposite of most PIR controlled lights.
