Which uC to use?

Hey, I am building a project in which i got a minimum of 8 sensors. I also need to drive an 8 digit 7 segment LED display. Which is the uC i should use? The project is a traffic light system. The sensors are LC circuits.
I need to use the uC with minimum number of features as this accounts for the score I get.

If we were to pick one for you what would you learn ?

Figure out what the smallest set of features you need is.
The start looking at uC vendors sites to find one that does the job with little or no extra.

Do you have a friend that uses micro computers?
It really helps to have contacts.

The right computer with no help is very hard.
A computer that is OK but not perfect with lots of help from friends is better.

Check out the cost of development software. You might find a $3.00 computer and have to use a $1200.00 C-compiler. OR You might fine a $3.50 computer and have a free C-compiler.
