wireless circuit

i m planning to make a centralized wireless remote control, which will control all the electronic switches in my house.. perhaps a transmitter and decoder at the transmitting end(remote) and a receving circuit at each room near the switch circuit. wchch receives the signal and activates the switch. Can u please suggest me what wireless system can i use?? will bluetooth ciruit help?
