In our control cubicles we use clips as marking on the wires.
Is there any recomendation acc. IEC in which sequence the text should be readable (left to right / top to button)-> -XD1: 12
Can somebody tell me where it is written?

Not sure if IEC stipulates this, but for me the usual text directions on a technical drawing are left to right, or top to botom (tilting head right)

There are several methods of marking control wire conductors, I have never seen an stipulated order, I always use NFPA79 as a guide and do not recall seeing anything on it.
Max.

I remember seeing a recommendation in one standard that the number reads "away" from the terminal.

However that means fitting the markers to each wire in reverse order when using push-on types & that seems more likely to introduce errors.

We always fit them in natural reading order as they are threaded on the wires..
