When using a wrist stat for static electricity abetment, what is the best ground point in a house to attach the ground clip too? What about the ground wire on the duplex receptacle?
When using a wrist strap you can use your house's ground, but any faults in it could then make their way back to you. Any large metal object, like a workbench or desk, or water pipes should also be fine.
Please make sure that the metal object that you are grounding to is bare metal where you clip on the strap. Paint or coverings will severely reduce or prohibit the connection to ground to be made. I'm sure you know this, but I want to make sure.
