12V DC Protection

Guys I'm powering an outdoor IR beams using 12V DC supplies.I have 4 pairs (TX & RX) so I have separate 12V DC power supplies.

My question is I want to protect this 12V which is going to IR beams against high voltage lighting.

I need a basic protection.Is there any way of doing?I need DC side protection.

If you can find them, I would consider the surge protection that's usually installed for telephone systems. There are some devices that are made by Bournes. The real key is a good ground for the strike to discharge to. They have been in use for years without issues.

You could use one of these for your devices and the enclosure. **broken link removed** The right hand side is designed to hold the telco surge devices.

A single ground point will be preferred.
