hi there as above wonder is there somewhere I could purchase a 36 volt ac to 120 volt ac transformer.
I am using it to connect an American imported power supply control unit for a push pull wire feed gun to a uk 3 phase welder.
The power supply for the gun requires 120volt ac in and the welder I have had a 36 volt ac output on the back so if I had a transformer in line I could wire it up and the whole setup would be self contained rather than plugging in the welder and supply separately.

No. On the amplifier I had started with nothing and added 15 V ac by winding 65 turns.

If you had 108 V ac and wanted to add 12 V to get around 120 V you could add maybe 30 turns to and put them in series with the original windings.

On the amplifier the ac voltage was rectified. Your ac voltage will feed the 120 V device without rectifiers.
 
If you're in the UK and you have a 400vac (380vac) 3-phase feed. Just connect two of your hot phases (230vac across each) to a 2:1 step down to get your 115vac (USA). Most of your travel shops should have simple, low current transformers for a very low price.

I did actually think of this but thought this was a more elegant solution than piggybacking off of the 3 phase plug. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks for the reply, I have ordered the transformer you recommended, do you think it will work ok for my needs roughly.
