That's exactly what I was trying to tell BrownOut in this thread

In an incident here, a man was lying in bed and shot himself in the head.

That didn't work, so he shot again, but this time, missed.

The third shot did him in.

At least that's what his wife claimed at her trial.

We have a triple widow in Germany.

Her first husband died of poisonous mushrooms and so did the second one. If you think the third one ended the same way you're in error.

He died of a crunched head because he refused to eat the mushrooms.

I would think most of them would have dodged prison with an insanity plea, a padded cell and medication for life...

Insanity pleas almost never work. Here in Texas I think they have a 2% success rate. Also, being locked away and stuck on 1960's era antipsychotics with little to no human contact is a terrible existence.
