Another ICD2 3.3v target question?

Someone recently posted a nifty bi-directional non-inverting level shifter circuit from a Philips application note that uses an N-channel MOSTFET.

Could I impose on the electronics experts amoung us to ask if the 3.3v side of this circuit could be used for both 5v and 3.3v devices? That is, could I use a jumper on my ICD2 board to connect either 5v or 3.3v to the pull-up resistor on that side of the circuit and would it still work correctly?

The app note that circuit came from explains why it works the way it does, and I believe it relies on the fact the voltages are different.

Another idea to consider, wire a jumper block so the 3.3v side of the data line is connected to the shifter or directly to the 5v side of the data line.

I'm embarrassed to say I didn't think of that (grin).
