I have a 12VDC linear actuator that has internal limit switches. I also have a remotely controlled relay w/ N/O contacts. I want to be able to momentarily close the relay that would make the actuator push out its 1" of stroke hit its internal limit switch and then retract back to hit its other limit switch. Then the cycle would be repeated each time the user activates the momentary relay. Is there a way to have a device reverse the polarity making the actuator return on its own?

Let me know if you need any more info or if this doesn't make any sense.

Thanks,
Adam

Start by reading this entire thread. It has all of the info you would need to do what you describe.

You will have to convert the astable 555 into a monostable which is triggered by a momentary push switch.
