Hi! I'm new here and I'm just wondering how I could fix this. My casette player [Sony WM-F10] doesn't seem to work. The capstan and rollwea don't seem to rotate, although it powers on and the radio works. How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance!
I think the drive belt that connects the motor to the capstan has degraded or snapped. Carefully unscrew and remove the casing. Inspect the belt for any signs of damage or missing parts.
Update:I ordered a belt and it arrived a few days ago and it turns out the old belt melted(probably from being in a garage) so we cleaned that up and put in the new belt and it worked perfectly. Thanks a lot!

Nothing to do with been in a garage, rubber belts simply deteriorate over time - they either 'melt' or just turn to dust - in my 46 years as a TV/Radio service engineer I replaced countless belts which had just vanished entirely (turned to dust and blown away), often it was quite difficult to tell where they went
