I am trying to create a variable portable power supply, for my work test and installing a variety of LED products. I have made a few of these in the past using separate modules - I would like now to gather it all together and make something a little better. I am stumbleing on the need for the battery pack to be relativly small as the thing is portable. If the pack could be larger, I could start at 36V and buck down to get some good efficency. The slightly unsual (maybe) requirement is I don't need great longevity, but I do need the ability to supply realtivly large currents, for example a 5M 24V LED Strip can run to about 90W. The device is used for brief testing only.
Previously I did this - 3C 2P lithium pack -> boost convertor to around 30V -> off the shelf variable buck psu module -> load.
What I wondering is; is there an IC out there that anyone knows of that I can control with I2C or similar to control the buck/boost + current limit so I can design the whole thing end to end. I have found lots of things topping out at 20V (for USB-C PD etc). Ideally I am looking for somthing that does all the heavy lifting in terms of feedback etc so I don't have to worry about that at the microcontroller end. This might be just too much wishful thinking. I am not looking for a module, I don't care about the amount of external components required really. I had a look through what the automotive market has to offer but so far not come up with anything particularly useful.
Input 12v approx.
Output: variable voltage and current, max 24v, min 5v, 0-5A (the more the merrier though)
