Chinese Tariffs

For The Popcorn

The orange cheeto dictator has enacted a 10% tarrif on imports from China. Unlike most previous tarrifs, there is no minimum value below which these tarrifs do not apply.

It is obvious to everyone except the orange cheeto himself that one way or another, these tarrifs are ultimately paid by the consumer, either by a higher sales price, or directly on imported products.

I have a $40 order inbound from AliExpress. I don't know how this $4 tarrif will be collected. Perhaps as postage due. I imagine the cost to collect $4 will far exceed the amount collected. It will burden an already short-staffed postage service. If the carrier collects the tarrif, it will require much more time to make deliveries.... and we already have missed mail deliveries because of staff shortages. Or maybe I'll have to go pay the fee at the post office, where the lines are already long.

You are witnessing the destruction of the United States of America. My apologies to the world for the turmoil which is unfolding.

Smile, tomorrow will be worse.
It is the USA corporations the ones that moved manufacturing to China, Mexico and the orient to profit more from lower costs and labor and avoid the robbery from health care costs in U.S.

The president thinks the chinese are the bad guys while the US corporations are who decided to move their manufacturing for bigger profit$ loooong ago and have no factories here. Sorry for skidding a subject.

When I get products from China, I pay a tariff if the value is over some level. (maybe $200 I don't remember) I have to send money to DHL to get the package out of customs. Then that money goes to the US government. By Monday we have no idea what will happen.

My Canadian friends and family say they will respond in kind. I see on FB they are calling to not purchase US made products. It appears there will be a large tariff on many items and several provinces will not let items through made in red states. Republicans who say "we will crush their economy and then adsorb them", this should be takes as declaring war.

Mexico has the same problem. He has threatened several countries.

And what is China doing already? Moving/contracting their manufacturing to Indonesia, Cambodia, VietNam, India, wherever they will profit from the move; and the manufactured products will depart from a non-chinese port exempt from the imposed tariffs... The US actions/sanctions will end being favorable to China by them managing other countries. Who pays ? Me. And you.
If politicians knew how to reverse inflation... but they only know how to move their tongues. And collect for that

Tempting subject; but consider moving it to the lounge...
