Depends on if you ever want to do any surface mount soldering. 0.8 mm is fine for large through-hole stuff, but 0805 and smaller I always use 0.4 mm and wouldn't even consider using anything larger.This is the solder I have, except mine is 0.8mm. Is there much benefit to going with something else? I don't think I'll run out of this before I die, but I may actually get the 0.6mm stuff.
