Hi, I am a computer programmer. I need to control the speed of a dc motor and its rpm, and read data in computer via RS232. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It will probably be as cheap to buy a motor control board and adapt it to your application. Will also give you the advantage of only having to worry about the interfacing of it rather than it's actual control/power supply etc
