that's odd, most photoflash LEDs are 1.5-2.0A. You should not need a transformer of any kind. all you need is a super cap and to make sure the max current is not exceeded.

Those wide-angle LEDs are the same brightness an a narrow-angle ordinary LED that has only 30mA. They are bright to look at but don't light up things.

The specs are way out there ??
Now how to flash them - looking at a TPS61059 or a MAX16824/16825
Not really sure if this will give the bright flash wanted?
maybe several flashed at same time like 50ms??
