help for my project...

my lecturer have give me the assignment which is its flow is like this:
handheld vacuum cleaner with stain remover function

pushbutton push - motor of vacuum cleaner slow - small water pump activate - motor of vacuum cleaner come back to its initial speed...

this project look easy but as i not get use with pic16f873a or pic16f877a and i have to use ccs c compiler, i wonder how to start.. although i have think to use timer and...

i appreciate if someone out there can give me a brief idea or similar project like this project..
