Some questions about an ultrasonic transducer that I have:

I have two RC40K4 devices. They appear to be ultrasonic sensors, but the RC40K5 code does not appear on the web. Each also has a marking "2N1" on it. Each is composed of a round aluminum can approx 1 inch in dia, and 3/8 inches deep. There are two leads at the back (one to the can) and the front has a wire mesh with what looks like a small dish behind it.

Q1) Can this device be used both as a transmitter and receiver?

Q2) Is there a circuit that will both drive and receive using the same single device?
Most of what i have seen uses two device and a separate circuit.
Regards,
Lou.
