I don't think I've ever seen a leaded ceramic that's just an SMT part with leads solderd on.
Anyway, unless you're using veroboard, to avoid jumpers or on high voltages, I don't see the point in using through hole components, especially for resistors and capacitors. SMT components are generally easier to work with and time is saved by not drilling any holes.
